Happy 906 Day

Celebrating the Upper Peninsula

On Sunday, September 6, Lake Superior State University is participating in 906 Day, which is a very special day set aside to celebrate the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This 906 Day we hope to raise $5,000 in support of the Bud Mansfield Student Emergency Fund.

The LSSU Financial Aid Department has identified over 280 students who do not qualify for CARES Act funding related to the issues caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Their needs are very real and could be the road block that ends their college career.  Whether it is food and housing insecurities, overcoming incidental travel expenditures or other travel costs for our international students, they need our help!

The LSSU Financial Aid Department is currently receiving emergency applications from Laker Students.  Grants will be made in increments of $500, $1,000 or $1,500 based on need.

How can I help?

By making a gift that is meaningful to you. If you donate at least $30 you will receive a Limited Edition 906 Day Laker-themed protective mask.

Thank you for your support!

“The Bud Mansfield Student Emergency Fund is one reason LSSU has that personal touch! Having another tool in my box allows me the opportunity to change a students life trajectory, and that is extraordinary. Life happens, and having the ability to help a student in a pinch is enhancing our social mobility, while meeting the needs of the student and our LSSU community.”
