Family and friends established this award in memory of Alana “Chicky” Eitrem, an LSSU nursing student from 1984-86. She was a second-year pre-nursing student who was tragically killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident in 1986. Mary Jo Meehan, LSSU professor, described Alana as a “personable young woman. She made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She chose a career in nursing so that she could help others. Her kindness came through in everything she did.” The scholarship recipient is recommended by the LSSU nursing faculty. Successful candidates must be a graduate of a Chippewa County high school and possess the same characteristic qualities as Alana.
