This scholarship was established to honor LSSU Emeritus Staff member Bill Munsell who served as LSSU’s first Financial Aid Director from 1967 until his retirement in 1998. For more than 28 years, Bill served as a Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan City Commissioner. In addition to being a long-time supporter of LSSU and giving of his time as a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Bill also serves on many local boards in support of the area community: Sault Lions Club, I-500, and UP Board of Realtors to name a few. In 2008, he received the LSSU Outstanding Alumni Award. Bill met his wife, Diana (Metrish), while a student at LSSU. She was a dorm supervisor at Osborn Hall from 1970-1974. She taught mathematics at the Sault Area High School for over 32 years until her retirement in 2002. Successful candidates must be graduates of any public high school in Chippewa, Mackinac, or Luce Counties on the basis of their high school GPA, ACT score and class rank.
