fr_don_5x7_300dpiThis scholarship was established through the estate of Father Donald Shiroda, longtime friend and supporter of Lake Superior State University. Father Don was dedicated to the people and communities of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in his over fifty years of service as a Catholic priest. Known for his tremendous compassion and concern for the community, people surrounded him regardless of their Catholic or non-Catholic faith. He was the people’s priest who enjoyed working with both young and old sharing a story, a smile and now a legacy for future generations of student volunteers. Successful candidates must be a resident within the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Marquette with a 3.0 minimum GPA. Students must be a volunteer to an Upper Peninsula of Michigan charity that benefits and promotes women’s causes and are registered with the LSSU Volunteer Center.
