George and Nancy McClure, both graduates of Purdue University in engineering, have always placed a high value on higher education, especially in the disciplines of science. George pursued a lifelong career as an engineer, and Nancy began as an industrial engineer and then became a math and science educator in the Van Buren Public Schools for 25 years. This scholarship was established to recognize the excellent education afforded to their grandson, Andrew Dennison (’15) and so many other students in the LSSU College of Natural Science, and particularly in Geology. The opportunities for research, extracurricular learning, and personalized faculty interactions in a small school atmosphere are worth encouraging… it will make a difference throughout their lives. Successful candidates must be a student majoring in the LSSU Geology program with at least 26 LSSU credits and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
