Laker Student Leader Scholarship Award (Nomination)
We invite LSSU faculty and staff to nominate a current sophomore or junior student(s) who they believe should be recognized for their leadership qualities and achievements while attending Lake Superior State University.
Scholarship Purpose
The Laker Student Leader Scholarship was established to recognize junior or senior students who have made a difference in the lives of others on campus and/or in the community while attending Lake Superior State University. Students may demonstrate leadership qualities through such programs as athletics, academics, campus leadership activity and service, publications and communications (i.e. student newspaper/radio), and/or the performing arts.
Award
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year and will be announced at the Student Leadership Awards dinner held in April.
Eligibility
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student who is majoring in any course of study at LSSU.
- Must have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be of junior or senior status at the time of receiving the award.
- Students may be nominated in the spring semester of their sophomore or junior year, but will have earned sufficient credits to be considered a junior or senior at the beginning of Fall semester of the award year.
Selection Committee
The Award Committee is comprised of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean – College of Arts, Letters & Social Sciences, Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development, Athletic Director, and three faculty members appointed by the Provost on a rotating basis. The committee will make a recommendation to the Financial Aid office for final approval.
