Ruth Norvell was a great friend and supporter of Lake Superior State University. She was a volunteer and contributor to more than a dozen local organizations, personal friend and advisor to a generation of Laker hockey players. She had a generous heart and tremendous Italian pride. Employed at Lake State from 1980 until her retirement in 1995, Ruth continued to give back to LSSU and to her community with her financial support and of her time. Prior to her death in 2002, Ruth and her husband, Henry established this endowment to benefit a hockey walk-on or partially funded student-athlete who has been accepted as a member of the LSSU Laker hockey team.
