A long-time Sault resident and world traveler, Gordon Wilman wished to fulfill a request of his beloved wife of 61 years, Adela, who passed away in July 2007. It was always Adela’s desire to help local students who dreamed of being a teacher. One of their proudest moments was to see granddaughter Julie graduate from LSSU in 2007. To fulfill her wish, Gordon established an annual scholarship in 2008 and upon his passing in 2013, his trust designated that a permanent endowment be established to continue his wife’s wish and create a lasting legacy. Eligible candidates must be an incoming freshman from Sault Area High School pursuing a degree in teaching with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
